Vancouver Pop Artist, Emilee Moore, Shares Her Honest Approach To Writing Hit Songs
Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
Hey! My name is Emilee Moore and I’m a pop artist from Vancouver, BC but based out of LA! I love writing heartbreak songs about my own experiences in love and love lost. All I want to do is make honest music that helps others feel understood in their heartbreak.
What qualities makes you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I think my honesty and straightforward songwriting makes my music stand out! I try to share my experiences exactly how they happened and share the parts of them that I know are relatable to others. I also try to do that through a lot of different sounds on the production end so there’s something for everybody.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I was in university and I hated it and one of my producers, who was just a friend at the time, gave me the opportunity to start recording and writing together! That was a really life-changing moment for me, because he believed in me and was giving me the chance to try the artist/songwriting thing out.
I always wanted to do something music related, but I doubted whether or not I actually could. Other than him, I think I told my best friends first! Since then, it’s been such an amazing journey.
I promised myself I would go all in and dedicate myself fully to it and here we are! It’s been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done and I’ve put so much time into it all, but I wouldn’t trade any of it.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
When I first started out, I knew I wasn’t good enough to compete with my idols or artists I looked up to. So, with the help of my team, I took it upon myself to “master my craft” the best I could.
I spent 3 years straight working on my songwriting, vocal delivery, and just overall taste before I even started putting music out. It’s been unbelievably challenging, but I feel like I’ve finally entered into a world where I’m proud of what I’m making and where the music can rival what’s out there today.
There’s always room for improvement and I’m nowhere near where I want to be, but I’m really enjoying every part of the process and the growth that comes with it!
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
John Mayer
Justin Vernon
Julia Michaels
