How Acting Has Shaped the Life of Joanna Ignaczewska

Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?

I’m proud to work as an actress for over almost 2 decades.2021 has been ground breaking in my career, have been on 5 tv series including Netflix’s Crown and this is a perfect moment not only to share with wider audience what i have done, but also how i got there and what latest experiences have given me.

What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?

I have made my uniqueness to be my strength : as being east-european actress in the Uk ( having an accent and specific look, even east- european name became a tool which i always take out of my sleeve rather than hide it!)
Acting is not ONLY a job or a choice, but a necessity and an “ air “ to me.
My work have made my grow as a person: wife, daughter , best friend or sister, Acting has very “alive “ and day-to-day influence on who I am.

Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.

Since I remember I wanted to “ create “ . It took me a while to realise I would find it in acting industry, but as soon as I was aware of my own needs as a kid, I was searching in performing arts to express myself: i was dancing, singing, playing instruments , singing in choir, and finally start to audition for roles in theatre and tv ( when I was about 12/13 ) it felt like be finally “ be home” .

What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?

For me the biggest challenge is just keep going, from year to year, from one role to another, no matter how big the success or failure , I need to find a motivation to be consistent in my work.Every single day.
More specific example of a “ challenge “ ( or failure if you wish you see it that way) was a moment, when I realised one of my major scenes in tv series was massive shorten, it hurts, yet i have learnt not to take it personally and as I said before, just keep going.
Thankfully the need for acting and creating in me is so huge, that allows me to find that desired motivation even during the darkest hours.

Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business?  Why these specific individuals?

Clint Eastwood, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Steven Spielberg.
Why? I truly believe those 3 directors would be able to get out of me ALL there is, massive fan of their work and I just can see myself on their set. Will happen one day!
