Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
My name is Akheel Omesh, I am 28 years of age and I’m an actor, writer & filmmaker. I’ve done stage a lot of stage and film/tv productions among the some of the significant acting work I’ve done is a few episodes in supporting role of BBC 1’s Our Girl appearing alongside the talented and famous Michelle Keegan and had done some on ‘The Indian Detective'(small non speaking part) and played lead in internationally showcased short film ‘Astray Ark’ which I wrote, directed, co-produced with a friend and filmmaker Chris Harris and starred in.
The film showcased and shortlisted at major film festivals including Rome Independent Prisma Film Awards film festival, LIMPA London International Motion Picture Awards film festival just to name a few.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I have a unique perspective as an artist, ambitious,
I am deeply driven to making an international or global impact as an artist because I know the power I have and the perspective and style I have as an actor and also as a writer/filmmaker I’m also keen when it comes to understanding the deeper meaning of how things work , not just the surface level expression.
I’m passionate about telling stories so I’m relentless in my pursuit for the desired outcome when it comes to my success and also conscious of the approach I happen to take at times. I’m a keen believer of manifestation and all spiritual elements that make us as human beings more powerful(when we achieve a sense spiritual awareness) than we set ourselves up to be.
The law of manifesting is a beautiful subject to explore. In this industry like in whatever field you’re aligned with skill wise and interest, you need to subconsciously and consciously manifest the success that you believe you deserve because waiting for a break is not an option at all, it is deliberate delay and time wastage.
Where there’s a lack, there’s the opportunity to create something that can rapidly blossom into great success. I aim to be a very influential force as an actor and producer in the film & tv industry. I travel a lot and when it comes to choosing which market I’d like to expand in, I say US, UK and Europe.
While expanding all over the globe as well. I have written 4 feature film scripts all riveting thrillers (with different sub genres)already, and am working diligently on getting them off the ground effectively one by one while elevating in my acting career. That’s key for me as well.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
It was when I landed the role of ‘Malik’ in Our Girl. I was around 21 at the time. It was an amazing moment because I had done an audition for a different role few weeks prior and I didn’t get it and I was very keen to doing an international project and when Our Girl came knocking with this role, I knew at the call back for this part that my chances were high, I could feel it and I had dreamt I landed the part and the next day I got the call.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
The biggest challenge I’ve had to go through is (few years ago) being rejected for a role after unintentionally missing a flight for a very important meeting with top director and producers for feature film where I was listed as a first option to play a supporting part nerdy type , it was a good role even though part of me , didn’t feel it I was right for it.
I was very keen on getting this specific part though because of opportunity to work with director John Pogue but lost it because of a stupid mistake where by didn’t look at flight boarding time , had I looked at the boarding time on the ticket, I would’ve made decisions that would have helped me actually get the part, I made a bad impression and I learnt from that.
I realize that it’s the small, simple, subtle things that are most important as they help you become successful and they’re certainly determine whether you’re ready or not for the success you desire to achieve.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
1.Steven Spielberg, apart from the legendary/pioneer status , he has also proven that tenacity and expansiveness go hand and hand when it comes to achieving both long and short term success.
2.Denzel Washington because he is one of my favorite, best and one of the most influential actors in the world. He inspires me to continue doing this what I do as an artist.
3.Emma Thomas, she is an Oscar winning film producer. I can see how much she truly loves the art of filmmaking and is no doubt tremendously influential as a filmmaker, her character speaks for itself and she is certainly a wonderful person I can tell and would love to meet her and engage in soul enriching conversations with.
