Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
Hi I’m Yvng Lex, 21 years old, representing Bronx New York. I’ve been making music for about three years now. I want to show people that regular people can make it big too. You don’t have to have a huge following or a whole bunch of money in order to accomplish your dreams.
My childhood was definitely not the best but I stuck it through. I learned a lot and I’ve grown a lot and I know I’m om the way to greatness because according to karma, I feel like I deserve it.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
One thing that makes me different from a lot of people is not the way that I make music but it’s my ear for music. I grew up in various cities such as Atlanta, New York City and around the Austin area of Texas so I definitely know what it sounds like.
It has helped me come a long way in songwriting. I feel like it really helps me put out a mainstream sound.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
I used to be very shy when I came to sharing my music in public. One day during freshman year, we had a talent show and I performed one of my songs and the crowd really loved it and that is the day that I realized that despite my fear and me being shy people still love my music. That pushes me to become the greatest version of myself which I know is possible thanks to music.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
One of my biggest challenges in life is grounding myself. Throughout my whole life, my family has moved a lot from city to city and I’ve learned to grow past that by staying focused and working as hard as I can with what I have.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
For starters, one person I am dying to meet and work with obviously is Drake because I feel like he has had the best career of all time. He has one of the most cult fan bases you can find and the effect that he has on people is the effect that I’m looking for.
Another great person I would love to work with is Anderson Paak, one of my favorite artist today. He has such a smooth style and flow and I would love to learn from him.
Last and definitely not least, JT from the City Girls is my favorite female artist out today and I would love to hop on a track with her. I love her energy and I love what she stands for. She’s very inspirational.
