Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
Hi! I’m Brian Lawley and I’m a musician/songwriter based out of Los Gatos, California. I am primarily focused on making fun and meaningful songs that make a difference.
Growing up in what I considered the golden age of music, with the likes of Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, etc., I felt that recent mainstream music lacks that distinct quality that was present in the songs that I love and hold a special meaning to me.
I missed the unique storytelling that goes into songs and that’s what made me take up the pen, strum my guitar and share the music of my life to the world.

What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I believe that everyone is uniquely different and each has their own story to tell. It’s just a matter of what you choose to tell. In my songs, I have put forth personal experiences that I hope will create an impact to those who listen to them, just as the songs that I grew up listening to have kept me company, encouraged me, and offered me new perspectives in life.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I knew from an early age that I wanted to focus on music, but I took the practical route and put music on the backburner for many years. I had a great career as a CEO and Author, but I knew that music was my real passion.
Ever since I decided to sell my company and started to pursue being a musician and songwriter, I feel like I have been finally given the opportunity to express myself and share the things that I love to the world. It’s been an exhilarating ride!
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge for me is being open to sharing my true feelings and stories about my life. When I write songs about very personal things and release them I feel very vulnerable. But I think that’s what makes artists great.

If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
The first is Roger Love, who I already know and is my voice coach. He is amazing.
The second would be someone who has achieved what I want to already – written many fantastic songs, built a fan base and has affected many people’s lives in a positive way through their music.
The third would be someone at a major label (once I have a big enough following) that would be interested in signing me as an artist.
