Every songwriter has a place they can’t stop thinking about. For Caroline Purr, it is California. The New York-based singer-songwriter releases “California (Country take me home)” on Friday, November 13, a country rock and Americana song about wanting something far away without losing your grip on what is right in front of you. The chorus puts it as a question: “California, do I belong there?”

What is “California (Country take me home)” about?
Caroline describes it as a song about “a dream burning in your heart you can’t let go of, because it’s part of your soul.” California is the dream in the song, but it is not a breakup with home. The point, she says, is holding both at once: chasing the thing you can’t shake while still loving the life that is all around you. It comes out on Caradon Records, the label she runs herself, and you can pre-add it on Apple Music now.
Radio is already lined up for it. According to Caroline, the song is booked for airplay on WUSB 90.1 on Long Island on November 8, is in rotation at Radio Wigwam in the UK, and has been added by The High Road for its affiliate stations starting in December.
