Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
My name is Pino martinez, I’m a 44 year old actor and tattoo artist specializing in portraits and photo realism.
I’ve been in the film industry about 3 years and tattooing 16 years.
I grew up in Salinas California, then moved to Fresno that’s where I began my tattooing Journey for about 16 years which led me to travel, and win multiple tattoo awards at tattoo conventions.
Right after that I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my acting career.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I think what makes me stand out is the fact that I closed a successful business so I can move to Los Angeles be dedicated and pursue my acting career, if that’s not dedication or passionate for what you believe in then I do not know what is.
There was a point when I first moved to Los Angeles that I was homeless I was living out of my car for a good while which I never told anyone about.
I always had the option to move back to Fresno and continue with my tattooing business which was easy to do because of clientele I established through the years but then that would mean I would put my dreams on hold, life is too short to be putting your dreams on hold.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
I never thought I would be into acting it never entered my mind.
I always thought that I would stay in the tattoo industry.
I had a cancellation on one of my tattoo appointments, I was scrolling on my iPad and along came an app for a free 7 day trial acting agency, figured I would try it since I had nothing to do that day.
On the 7th day I booked my first acting gig.
I fell in love with it so much that eventually I closed my successful tattoo business and moved to Los Angeles, if closing your business to follow your dreams is not dedication then I don’t know what is.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
My biggest challenge was closing my business and moving to Los Angeles, even though there was times when I was homeless but still refused to go back because I know nothing comes easy in this life to pursue any dream that you’re passionate about, you must pay a price of sacrifice, dedication and consistency.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
Denzel Washington I feel I can learn a lot from his experience in the film industry.
Jim Carrey I’ve watched him since I was a kid and would love to learn more about his techniques to elevate my career.
Steve Harvey I know he was also homeless at one point and can use a lot of his life experiences and advice to help me through my journey.
