Entertainment Talent Manager, Jax Hillard, Uses His Unique Perspective When Finding Hollywood’s Next Star
Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
As an Entertainment Talent Manager, I build strategies to launch actors and musicians successfully in the Entertainment Industry. I love to find interesting talents that are with the current decade. Hollywood is changing and I’m happy to be a part of advancing it to a whole other level.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
All of my experience has given me a unique drive to the Entertainment industry. I worked with the top promoters in the NYC nightlife scene, I’ve worked for several different tech start-ups, brand management and I even had my own Cabaret business. This benefits my actors and musicians so we can really set a solid road map to the many avenues they can go.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
My friend was visiting in LA, and we were in a suite at the Beverly Hills Hilton hotel. I spoke to them about my new career path. Everyone was so excited. They know me so well that once I began to start the conversation about my career change, they immediately ordered a bottle of champagne to the room.
Sometimes friends can see things that we might be blind to it. Everday of working has been an absolutely pleasure. That’s when you know you need a tight group of friends to help you through big life changes.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge is really knowing who is worth your time. Time is super valuable. The hard truth is that not everyone is worth your time. Hard conversations with clients have to happen. When I first started, I thought that people would be on top of their game.
My thought was that if this is your true passion then you will fight for it. That’s just not the case for a lot of people in this town. Realizing that early on has helped me put more time in for people that really are worth it. I have some amazing clients that are really worth my time now.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
I would love to meet Bryan Lourd, Kris Jenner, and Bethenny Frankel.
