Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
I’m an LA-based record producer and songwriter. I’m originally from Brazil, and grew up influenced by every type of music – from classical, to pop, to dance, to jazz, and traditional Brazilian. I currently produce and write pop music for some of the most followed rising artists, and established talents all around the world! I am working with artists and songwriters on every continent – except Antarctica!
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I’m a perfectionist. There’s no “demos” in my world. Every song I make sounds like a final “radio-ready” record, even if it is just a demo. Admittedly, my perfectionism can sometimes irritate those around me, especially my manager. At the end of the day, my manager knows when she is pitching or delivering my songs to a client, that they exceed expectations.
It’s those little details, that sometimes may be imperceivable, that really make all the difference. I’m also always pushing the sonic envelope, mixing styles and blending genres, and crafting something unique. My newest release, “American Girl Doll,” is a K-Pop production, but the lyrics are in English, performed by an American artist.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
While my music career has evolved over the years, it’s all I’ve ever done. I can’t imagine myself doing anything else. I’ve sacrificed so much and worked tirelessly to get where I am today. Working with music is like breathing for me, it’s always been a part of me.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
Leaving my family in Brazil has been the biggest challenge in my life. I am extremely close with my parents and sisters, and moving to a new country, and having no family nearby to lean on is incredibly difficult. Family is the most important thing in my life, so to leave them to pursue my dreams proves the sacrifice and desire to be successful in my career. I’m also finishing up construction on my new music studio, which anyone who has ever done a renovation will tell you is a challenge!
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
I’d love to meet Max Martin, he’s definitely one of the most prolific producer/songwriters of this generation. I’m a huge fan of Sia, and would love to produce a song for her one day. Also, that music publisher that is ready to make some #1 records!
