Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
I’m Georgia Carter, a 19-year-old musician from Brighton, UK. Alongside this, I’m a music producer and music event organizer.
Since I was a child I’ve been obsessed with music, growing older this love has grown further and further, pursuing it as a career makes me feel incredibly lucky. I make experimental music featuring heavy accentuation on my vocals and harmonies, with sound manipulation of instruments.
I’ve played the cello since I was 7, and the piano since 9 years old, always singing and picking up new instruments to teach myself along the way.
Music is a key output for me, it’s helped me through almost all of life’s ups and downs from childhood, to teenage years, to adulthood.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I mix together sounds of which I feel juxtapose one another, for example, applying guitar amps to my vocals, and pedals to ukuleles to create an entirely new sound.
Along with this, I like to create refreshing vibes in my music through the use of alchemy and sound waves to apply ambiance.
Taking inspiration from as many genres as possible is also something I love to portray in my music, from rock/electronic to vocal/indie.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do. Paint a vivid picture of the experience so readers can take the journey with you.
The moment I realized music was what I was born to do was when I was around 11 years old. I began creating my own jingles and writing short verses to articulate my emotions.
As the years passed, I found this became a habit of mine, and something that made me feel truly comforted and overjoyed, any music can transform me to a completely different place, so writing made that experience even more of a reality for me.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
The biggest challenge I’ve had to go through with music was when I was around 14. School had started asking the career questions, I was having to choose my GCSEs, what GCSEs I chose practically dictated my options for A-Level, leading onto University.
At this moment I really had to consider a career in music and the highs and lows, it was also a time that kids weren’t extremely accepting and supportive of anyone doing something different. However, practicing, performing, and realizing that music has been my true love for as long as I could remember, I pushed through the invasive thoughts and decided that was too much to lose.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
My top 3 people to meet would be Muse, Amy Winehouse, and Elton John.
Muse because I think their music is absolutely incredible, I adore the boldness and uniqueness of their choices.
Amy Winehouse because her music has influenced my path completely, the way she also used music for escapism rings true to me.
Finally, Elton John, because he’s so unapologetically himself, never changing for anyone, remaining strong and undeniably talented.
