Hi!!
My name is James Barmore. I am a performing artist, based in Los Angeles, by way of Detroit Michigan. I want people to know that I am the next up and coming artist to look for. There is a realness and authenticity that has been lacking in the music industry and I am here along side so many other talented ARTISTS that are really on the forefront of progress and creativity.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
Qualities that make me different from everyone else is that what I do is effortless, who I am as an artist is undeniable. Whether I have a band behind me or singing acapella with crowd participation, my superpower is that you are going to feel something. My experience, knowledge, and life validate my art, craft, and presence, I just realize it now.
Introducing a flavor called modern nostalgia can be classified as alternative soul/R&B, I am a student of music I love strong male and female vocalists, I love bands, I love jazz, gospel and the more.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
Alright so imagine it,
a little kid in elementary school in music class, and his teacher is doing a call and response. As he is singing the lines back with the rest of the class, plastic recorders in hand practicing hot cross buns, he hears himself. He realizes that “wow I sound just like Ms. Tuscany” that was my teachers name. After class, Ms. Tuscany comes to me and offers to train me closely and offers me a solo in the next school assembly singing “we are the children of the 21st century”
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
My biggest challenge was believing in myself for me without outside validation. I grew through that by trailblazing and creating my own platforms and spaces where I felt the most safe to be my true self. It built my confidence and persona.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
Three people: Pharrell Williams, Kaytranada, Janelle Monae
Pharrell- A visionary and producer that I would love to study under and create with.
Kaytranada- A fire DJ and producer, as an artist his audience is massive especially with festivals and shows where music lovers can really appreciate what they are listening to. Having a feature with him? *chef’s kiss*
Janelle Monae- A BOSS, she is my goal record label to be signed under, she and wonderland are who I identify with as an artist. Having that backing and support is the goal.
