Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
My name is Joey Ambrosini and I am an actor. I have been acting since I was 16 years old and I was discovered by a man who became my mentor named David Gere.
I do this because I find the world of acting to be my escape from the real world. Ever since I was a kid, I never really knew where I belonged until I first stepped on set.
I am in love with this industry and I don’t know how to not be in love with it.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
That is a fantastic question and the best way I can answer it is I would say that even though I have been inspired by lots of A-list actors, I know that I know I don’t want to be the next version of them as much as I know I want to be the first version of myself.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I always had an interest in seeing what it’s like to be one of the people I’ve seen on the screen. I never really knew how to break into it though.
But one day, I met this film producer named David Gere, who is local to my state, who said he would love to involve me in his films and instantly I said yes.
Ever since then, we would develop a mentor/mentee relationship and I’d make appearances in his films. But I think the moment where I knew for sure when I realized I wanted to do it for the rest of my life is when I started to be introduced to some of the people I was told I’d be seeing regularly on set and sharing stories led to me becoming apart of a family which made me realize that this is where I belong and I love doing it.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
So far, I think the biggest challenge was taking time off. That was challenging because it wasn’t by choice. When the pandemic started, a lot of opportunities were pushed back and some even fell through.
I overcame it just like everyone else did: by being patient and knowing that the industry is always going to still be there for me and everyone.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
Another great question that is. I have always been open to meeting all kinds of people, especially producers and casting directors because I want them to know who I am.
So, I’ll send them my resume and reel and see if one thing can lead to another, which believe me I know it can. But three people I would love to work with are Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, and Johnny Depp.
