Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
As an actor, opera singer, influencer and model I have been working on breaking all the boundaries and striving for body inclusivity and diversity in the entertainment industry.
I am striving to work with theatre companies and teach body positivity in theatre to the up and coming generations of young actors, writers and entertainers.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
The qualities that make me different and unique in my industry include my empathy, passion, and attention to detail.
My hands on experience in the field gives me a unique perspective on educating and informing others about my experiences in the entertainment field as a full figured actor.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I remember being in an audition for a role I was told that I would only be able to play, Tracy from Hairspray. I auditioned and was told I was too small for it! I thought this is ridiculous!
I’m too big to play a romantic lead but now too small to play this role? Where the heck am I supposed to be in this performance world that I call home? I wanted others to never have to feel this way and wanted to bring my experience to the world.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
I would say overcoming the society standards, the nay sayers and working with people in the industry that just simply say no that won’t sell or people don’t want to see that.
You have to continue to work through all of those obstacles and I continue to have the tough conversations and share my experience to get past them.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
I would want to meet Lizzo, Drew Barrymore and Ashley graham.
These are all incredible woman who discuss tough topics and combat the society standards that have kept us back for so long.
