Kimiesha Jones Expresses Her Faith Through Music With Her Own Unique Spin

Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?

My name is Kimiesha Jones, I am a recording Gospel/R&B recording artist from Washington, D.C.

I have been writing and recording my own music since 2012. I started by doing Christian covers of some of my favorite R&B songs and in 2014, I recorded my first single.

What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?

I am different from most artists because I do a lot of things myself. I do all of my own cover art, I’ve recorded and engineered most of my vocal recording sessions, and I’ve been able to accomplish a lot without a full team.

It wasn’t always by choice to do everything myself, I’ve just dealt with a lot of people who ended up slowing me down so I decided to move forward by myself until I found the right people to push me forward.

Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.

When I was very young I was obsessed with Beyoncé & Destiny’s Child.

I watched their live performances all the time and thought, “I can do that!”. Ever since my goal has been to make great music and perform in front of millions of people!

What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?

The biggest challenge I went through in my career so far has been finding a team, as I mentioned above, I’ve had people help but it always seemed like they were slowing me down or didn’t really have my best interest at heart so I did a lot on my own.

As much as I love doing things myself it’s still extremely difficult sometimes.

Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?

I would love to meet Beyoncé, Issa Rae, and Tyler Perry.

I would love to meet Beyoncé because she is one of the hardest-working artists in the business. Watching her documentaries I see her spend hours making sure she gives her audience an amazing show.

I would love to meet Issa Rae because her business mind is amazing, seeing where she started and how she didn’t quit is so inspiring! Meeting Tyler Perry would be awesome because I’m a huge fan of his work! He’s also another person that came from nothing and built an empire.
