Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
I am Maou Zee, an Italian rapper, songwriter, ghostwriter, and executive producer who aims to make himself known all over the world and not only in Italy; in my country, I have 11 years of experience on stage and I won 2 national contests in 2012 and 2014.
I made my debut in rap as a freestyler, which is why my approach is very explicit and based on stage performance; I want to conquer a prominent position in the rap game to bring it back to being meritocratic, based on talent, skills, and true feelings.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I have my own way of seeing and doing things, and I have the ability to communicate with music what music wants to communicate to artists and listeners, I am a medium who gives his voice to a higher entity that ordinary people are not capable of perceiving.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
In 1993, when I was 5 years old and I was transcribing and translating without the internet, some verses of Method Man, I tried to rap them and felt the flow runs through my veins at a very high speed, so much speed that it felt like an electric shock.
At that moment it was a fire lit in my eyes, I realized that I was born for this and that I want to apply myself every day to improve and become someday the most skilled rapper in the world.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
My skills and my commitment are superior to every challenge, and I have always fed up myself with the challenges to become stronger, so I am always looking for more.
At the moment the biggest challenge I have to face is to qualify well in two international contests at the same time even though I am not a native speaker; after this challenge, I will immediately find a new one that is even greater.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
I would like to meet Tech N9ne because it has revolutionized the way of making music and music business without adapting to fashions, but adapting fashions to itself while he keeps making true art.
Method Man because he was the first rapper to make me passionate about rap and influence my style, and I consider him the best rapper of all time as far as the technical level is concerned. I also got to see him on stage and it was the best performance I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen many performances in my life).
Meechy Darko because I perceive that we have a lot in common as artists and as people, such as attitude, ways of communicating, and ways of merging with music both in the studio and on stage.
