Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
My name is Thomas King and I’m an artist that enjoys making music that people can just enjoy vibing to. Born and raised in Columbus, GA ,the love of music has always been in my blood in some shape or form. At an early age, I fell in love with the act of singing and dancing.
At the age of 13 in the summer of 1998, I founded a small town vocal and dance group. The trio was called “ South Town Rebels” where I was the lead vocalist. The group performed at several local talent shows starting off doing covers of popular songs then eventually performing our own written song by acapella. Though the group broke up shortly after in 2001, I kept writing music.
Throughout the years, I have kept the dream of releasing music for everyone to hear. In 2018 I made the dream come true by starting a YouTube channel recording song covers from various artists and genres gaining the attention of famous artists such as BOYZ2MEN, Johnny Gill, Case, members of OTOWN, and many others. In 2019 I began releasing a few singles, but I still wasn’t satisfied. In the spring of 2020, I released his first EP album “NEVER TOO LATE”.
With new music on the way and the 2nd EP From this artist “SUNSETS”. Serenading with a smooth vibrato and heart-dropping falsetto is something for any mood. Being the main puzzle pieces for all my work such as production, songwriting, vocals, and backup, I create a new world that anyone can escape to.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
Not only am I a vocalist and dancer, but I have been influenced by all genres of music so It allows me to switch my sound from RnB, to pop, as well as any other sound.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
Singing has always been in my orbit and listening to Michael Jackson since birth I remember being six years old and MTV was doing an MJ marathon and I saw “Thriller” for the first time. I immediately started learning the dance and catching on so quickly my mom walked in and continued watching me. I distinctly remember her telling me this was in my DNA. Since then it’s always been a dream!
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
I would definitely say being the sole creator for all my projects. Whereas many people I know can throw out projects so fast because they are paying someone to do one thing and then move on to the next. Since I produce, write, mix all of my work it takes much more longer, but I feel a large sense of pride knowing I’m building my knowledge for the future.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
Not sure if I could pick people who have passed, but if I had to pick living artist 1st would defiantly Justin Timberlake. I’ve been a fan of his since I was 13, and the amount of success he’s had since being solo is highly noticed.
The 2nd probably would be Usher. He’s a phenomenal performer again just like JT and an amazing vocalist and dancer!
Number 3 would have to go to Khalid, his sound is just so chill. There’s not one song I dislike from him. Not to mention the collabs he’s partnered with.
