Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
My name is Nate Adamsky and I’m an entertainer. I mostly perform stand-up comedy, but I also act, play music, produce, and write scripts. Why do I do what I do?
Entertainment is the only thing I can do. Since I was very young I have always been entertaining people. From throwing shows and concerts in back yards to now; I just went on a cross country tour.
I really want to impact people’s lives with my work. I want someone to see my story and think I can do this too. I want people to hear a song or watch a movie that I made, or that I am in and I want them to feel moved and inspired.
I want people to know that I frequently perform stand up all across LA. i want to see you at my shows I want to hang out after I want to know you.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I actually have a true love for people that most people in this industry do not. I legitimately love talking to people about them and their dreams and their intimate stories. Getting to know another person gets me excited. I also have the ability to improv. I always find myself in fun and crazy situations and major opportunities because of my ability to just say YES END.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
Growing up my mother always encouraged me to perform. She has always been my motivation and driving force to pursue my dreams of entertainment. When I graduated high school my mother gave me tickets to go see a comedy show as a gift. When I went to go see that show I knew that I wanted to do comedy as well.
I always knew I wanted to do it, but it wasn’t until then I said ok this is gonna be my life forever. I am going to do this seriously and not just maybe. I told my mom and as always she was supportive and excited for me to start my journey.
Years later I performed on that same stage and I have been working as a comedian for the past couple of years.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
The only thing that can stop an artist from following their dreams is themselves. Life throws a lot of obstacles in your face, and you have to have the willpower to keep going.
Sometimes you fail over and over, but success is built on failure. I remember my first time bombing on stage doing stand-up. It hurts so bad especially when you had been only killing it for a long while.
I wanted to quit. I was embarrassed and I had existential dread coursing through me. It was my own head telling me no I can’t do it. I should have quit, but it was also my own head telling me to keep going.
Comedy is a drug you can’t step away from, but you need to have the motivation to retry over and over. It’s not easy. Entertainment is not easy. People think they can do it, but you need the mindset for it. Never quit your dream.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
The GOAT to me is Bill Murray. I would love to just pick his mind. I couldn’t ask him for anything but knowledge and that is priceless coming from him.
Secondly, I really am in need of a new representation, if you’re reading this and you find me at all interesting I would love to set up a meeting. Third, I would want to meet a writer/director to collaborate with that I believe in to make films that are in my range and I can act in often.
