Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
Hello, my name is Nicholas Christopher White and I’m 18 years old. I’m an actor and influencer from Toronto, Ontario. I have been acting five years professionally and recently just finished filming a film called “Mind Of The Mask” as the lead character, which will be coming out shortly.
I love the art of acting and telling the story through the different character I play, because it’s allows me to bring the character alive. I also love doing acting because I enjoy entertaining people while showing everyone my passion/creative side of me. Acting makes me feel an emotion that I can’t really describe in words, it’s the magical feeling of portraying a character that makes me feel powerful and happy.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
Qualities that make me different and unique from everyone else in the industry is that I’m not afraid to make big choices that can better my acting and career. Most actors tend to act with their face and body language rather then acting from within yourself and bringing you past emotions into your acting. Also by allowing your eyes to tell the story rather then saying words and matching your action to what your saying.
Good acting comes from what the actor is dealing with an emotion that they can’t really comprehend or understand. With this type of concept, I’m a type of actor who has internal thoughts of everything that’s happening in the scene/that happened in the past tense.
I tend to analyze my character traits/everyone else’s in the scene, the issue and how to solve it, so that the audience better understands the story. I would say I’m very technical actor, who interprets things in a completely different way, and tries to do the scene/story in a more complex way. Rather then doing the obvious/easy idea most people in the industry would do.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
The moment I wanted to be an actor was when I saw Cameron Boyce on Jessie, and thought it looked so much fun of the idea of being on tv. I never would have thought I could actually be an actor, since others told me that it was a very hard career that not everyone will succeed in.
The first person I told was my best friend and they thought I was joking and didn’t took me seriously. It brought a big spark to me and ever since that day, I would work on my craft each and every single day. It brought out the hustle in me that I never knew I had, acting gave me a purpose which I never had before. People told me not to do it, but I kept going despite the hate and opinions of others. I didn’t for one reason at that time, which was it made me happy.
I could have never imagine that I Nicholas could ever become an actor, but I work hard even on the days I felt discouraged and lost. I continued to move forward because my acting coach always use to say you will get hundreds of no’s before you get your first yes. That quote inspire me to work even harder then before because I know I am meant for more.
People told me how great my acting was and I never gave up. Ever since that day I book multiple acting gigs, got to be in a music video, did many photo shoots with photographers. I also got lots of interviews with big agency and met the most amazing people in the industry and the list goes on and on. This dream God put in my heart has been truly a blessing and I will forever be grateful.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge I had to face was the fear of failure and rejections. I always thought of the idea if I fail so many times, or got rejected means I’m not good enough which brought my confidence down. It took me couple years to realize that even though I never heard back from agent, or audition it doesn’t mean I’m not talented enough.
That role wasn’t meant for me, or I didn’t fit the character description. Every time I get an audition I move on with life and don’t dread on it because it’s out of my control. I either get it or don’t, but I know what’s right for me, will find me.
Once you build that mindset you will overcome the fear of failure. In every job you fail whatever it is, for example a basketball player, you can’t think your gonna make every shot, just like in acting you can’t think you will book every role. Just know what’s right for you, will happen.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
My top three that I would want to meet that could take my career to the next level, would be Dwayne Johnson, Will Smith and Zendaya.
Those are my top three role models I look up to because even though their all doing the same career, they do have other talents in that career for example zendaya can sing, act, model etc.
Will Smith is author of his own book, and directs films etc.
Dwayne Johnson former wrestler, can sing and does crazy stunts.
They all inspire me to be different and unique in my own way. They are so talented, have won many awards and have been doing this for a long time. I watch all their interviews and they just inspire me to become a better actor and human. They really brought out the best in me and I will forever follow in their footsteps as I grow into the person I was meant to be.
