Peter Ofoegbu | Spreading Positivity through his music

Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?

FEGS, is a Gospel artist, from South London. With one of his close friends dying at the age of 16, and his uncle getting shot, FEGS realised that there was more to life and gave his life to Christ. The death of his friend inspired his first single “No Knife” and upon receiving positive feedback and reactions to the song, he knew that he had found his purpose, which is spreading the Gospel through music.
In the beginning of his music journey, he founded the company Music Birthed Out Of The Spirit, where the vision is to continue to spread the gospel infused with Faith, Hope and Love through various ventures.
Music has played a huge part in FEGS’ life, from playing drums at church and receiving songs in dreams when he was younger, to messing around with siblings showcasing rap skills. A crucial moment in his music career was when his pastor had said “If God is blessing you with songs write it down”. He took note of this statement and began to write.

What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?

Erm, good question haha. I write, perform and produce what I make (from 2018 – Present), and I use the toilet just like other regular humans. I’m all about uplifting people, and I love to spread positivity in my music, to make people strive for better. Ok, I guess what makes me unique is I do some funny hand movements when I record (Unless others do the same haha).

Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.

My first single, “No Knife”, was released in 2016 on SoundCloud, and touched on the subject of knife crime. Upon the release, a friend of mine really shocked me; this particular individual had a pending case, and was singing my song “No Knife”. That’s when I realised that it was deeper than just recording vocals into a mic.

What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?

Throughout my career thus far, there has been many naysayers, or haters as you call them. I was so close to giving up in 2020, after the lack of support I received, and the criticism and indirect messages made about me, from people that claim to be Christians. Thankfully I have trust in God and a very supportive team around me (Shout out to Music Birthed Out Of The Spirit), so I kept pushing, and will keep pushing, as I don’t do it for myself. I do it for God.

Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business?  Why these specific individuals?

1. Kirk Franklin. I remember listening to my mum play his music as a kid, and I couldn’t believe it was Gospel music as it was so lit.
2. Bizzle. I love his passion and enthusiasm to spread The Good News.
3. Jonathan McReynolds. He’s another young brother like myself, who seems to have a deep passion for spreading the love of Jesus Christ.
