Sam Lioness Gives Rap Music A Sweet Attack

Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.

My name is Sam Lioness and I am a MC and a freestyler although I also do other branches of hip hop. I consider myself an inveterate hip hop.
Let’s say that I do this because for me, hip hop culture has always been in my life, because it runs in the family, since in the family we have all had a gift for drawing and I started that way by drawing graffiti on paper and I also liked to dance like a robot, although I hadn’t discovered that dance yet and I did it my way, although I did know who michael jackson was as a child from my mother’s tapes, who also listened to the Technotronic who were techno music and rap pioneers, and to me Uncle liked the urban thing as a child doing parkour when the discipline did not yet exist and then I had my first experience with hip hop, on a fleeting basis, but later later I would see the prince of Bai Lair and my mother gave me 8 miles of Eminem , then I started to listen to rap, what happens when I was little I was blinded with the idea that being an artist was not good for me, since the canon of this society was to study a career, for that reason, I was going to study the teacher career I was not a girl who stood out, but rather suffered verbal bulliyng at school and with all the people my age, for being from the town and for being chubby, so I did not want to be an artist for that very reason, until I showed up to a funky dance group but I ended up dating after a year because they put me at the end so that I would not be seen, so I was depressed for years, in fact I did not finish high school since I did not feel comfortable until I was in home and then I had years that I did not leave home for anything other than to work where I did not fit in, nor was valued, until one day in summer, when I was 27 years old, I saw a concert by a rapper in my city, I met said rapper And he didn’t have a great life since he was starting in the musical world and he was an alcoholic but something changed inside of me, and I asked myself if someone like him can have the life he wants, why not me?

So I started looking for rap references on the internet, but instead, the beatbox ones came out, so I was learning first beatbox for a few months and seeing a beatboxer named FD from Uruguay, who also rapped, I saw him compete in battles freestyle rap, I wanted to know more and then I learned at 28 to rap by myself improvising, then in August 2020 I was able to release my first album Sociedad Tóxica, during the pandemic. Said album I talk about animals and the environment since animals have been my second passion after hip hop culture, because when I was little I lived with them, my father was a shepherd. Then I said to myself, I do not think not to dedicate my whole life to something in hip hop and today although I am more directed to rap and freestyle, I do not stop combining it with beatbox, dance and drawing, sometimes having joined it with the rap. I do this so that people see that they can choose the life they want and that they not only have to choose one dream when they can fulfill several at the same time and above all that no one restricts their ability to choose in their lives.

What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?

Something that makes me different in the music industry, my personality, since it is very little seen in today’s society, my sweetness, sincerity, being a woman, since there are few in rap and my courage and bravery to express so much hard things as sweeter, just the way I feel them, without fear that people will be offended.

Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?

The moment I realized that I wanted to be a rapper, it was having a very hard time in my life with a job that did not fill me, from a very different environment than the one I did not belong to, because I worked for a nuns from a church in Guadalajara and I stopped to think, that I had thrown my life to pay attention to everyone except myself and I began to raise my self-esteem, I began to radically change my life and I saw that that was the way, then when I went to that rap concert and I met the rapper, I said I can do great things and I even took up dancing and drawing that I had when I was little but I had forgotten it and I learned new things like the beatbox and then the rap that at the time I started to improvise with time more or less well was amazing and that was when I wrote my first album.

Well, everything I felt at first I dedicated to my father who at that time had passed 5 years ago and also to part of my family that due to life circumstances I had not yet been able to meet. From that moment until now my life has been in chaos due to the fact that I totally changed it, because I have had to face very big problems in my life, problems of almost seeing myself in the street thrown away, things that people would have thrown away. towel, but for the first time I was in charge of my life and now I am the person I want to be and I am happy.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge in my career as an artist has been having to face people, the public, because people themselves scared me, since when I was little I lived in the country for a long time, at school I had almost no friends and Not when I was older either, but I have been able to overcome all that and now nothing affects me, in fact I am no longer afraid of people and I have been able to start enjoying what I do.

If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?

I would like to meet Dario the Missionary who is a great freestyle character to help me in the world of battles as a freestyler. I would also like to meet SFDK, a rap music group from Spain, for advice on rap and my career as a rapper and finally I would like to meet Pepouni, who is the tycoon of beatbox battles, because I don’t rule out May I conquer that terrain more thoroughly one day as well.
