Dax Hamma makes the kind of beat that starts arguments in the comments. His TikTok videos are simple: a drum pad, a Menace hoodie, a hard boom bap loop, and one line on screen asking which rapper would destroy it. The answers pile up. Behind the clips is a Queens-born producer and mixing engineer who runs the boards for a Christian hip-hop label and has spent years teaching other producers how to make their mixes hit.

Who is Dax Hamma?

According to his label’s distributor, Syntax Creative, Dax Hamma was born and raised in Queens, New York. He found success working in TV and radio first, then felt God pulling him toward another path, and that path led to Christian hip-hop.

Today he is the producer and engineer for Menace Movement, the Christian hip-hop label led by the rapper Datin. Rapzilla lists him on the label’s roster alongside C4 Crotona, Monster Tarver, Jes Norris, StefanOtto, Azeekah and Knaladeus, and describes the crew’s music as a gritty, unapologetic message of faith, hope and redemption.

What does a Dax Hamma beat sound like?

Think East Coast boom bap with a modern low end. The titles on his store tell you the mood before you press play: “Menace,” “Destruction,” “Vendetta,” “Warning Shot,” “Walls Fall.” He tags beats with names like Nas, Method Man, Mobb Deep, Conway the Machine and Benny the Butcher, which is a fair map of where his drums and samples live. Most sit between 75 and 90 BPM, built for lyrical rappers who want room to breathe between the snares.

The TikTok that brought him to our attention follows his usual format: a hard loop and the caption “Tag a rapper who would destroy this beat.”

He also gives a lot away. Beats he uploads to YouTube with a [FREE] tag can be used for freestyles, demos and videos as long as you credit “Prod. by Dax Hamma.” Anything you plan to release and earn from needs a license from his store.

What has Dax Hamma worked on?

Inside Menace Movement he does double duty, producing records and engineering the label’s sound. Two releases show his place in the crew:

  • “I Won’t Bow II” (2022). Datin’s posse cut with the whole Menace Movement roster. Rapzilla’s write-up lists Jes Norris, Cephas, Knaladeus, C4 Crotona, Monster Tarver and “producer/engineer Dax Hamma.”
  • The Menace Mixtape II: Civil Disobedience (November 18, 2022). Released by Menace Movement and credited to Datin and Dax Hamma together. Datin described it as a peaceful but stern refusal to follow sin and culture.

In 2025, Menace Movement joined Rapzilla’s distribution network through Syntax Creative, which puts the label’s catalog, and Dax’s production, in front of a bigger Christian hip-hop audience.

Why do producers follow Dax Hamma for mixing tips?

His YouTube channel, running since 2016, has more than 1.1 million views across about 240 videos, and the most-watched ones are short mixing lessons. “Mixing with pink noise?” passed 76,000 views. “Top 5 Waves plugins for top down mixing” has more than 34,000, and a 30-second short on the SSL bus compression setting associated with Dr. Dre has more than 25,000. He also does longer plugin walkthroughs, like his review of the Sonimus N-Console, and step-by-step videos on gain staging.

That mix of making beats and explaining how they are built is what sets him apart from most type-beat channels. You can hear the drums hit, then find out why they hit.
