Who is Miles Bonham?

Miles Bonham is a kid music producer whose link page calls him “the world’s youngest professional producer.” He started playing music at 4 on a small guitar, moved on to piano, and soon was building full multitrack songs, with drums, bass and vocals, in professional recording software. His parents, who are not professional musicians, started sharing clips online, and the clips took off.

He has perfect pitch, writes his own songs and mixes his own tracks, according to Berklee. He has been on Good Morning America, The Drew Barrymore Show and PBS NewsHour. Questlove gave him a drum set. Grammy-winning producer Mark Ronson is among his famous friends.

Still, his parents keep him a regular kid. His TikTok is a family account they manage, and his mom told PBS that Miles doesn’t use social media himself: “We don’t think it’s healthy for kids to go on social media while their brains are developing.”

What does Miles Music Kid actually do?

His signature video goes like this: Miles gets only the vocals from a famous song, often one he has never heard, and produces his own version around them. Then he hears the original. The results can be startling. He turned Lorde’s “Royals” into his own track without knowing how the original sounded. He was sure Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life” was an R&B song and produced it that way. He gave Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” the same treatment, and that video has 14.7 million views.

He also does it live and on the clock. In 2025 his family posted the full session from Electric Lady Studios, the New York room where Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder and David Bowie recorded. Miles, then 7, rebuilt Shawn Mendes’s “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” there, playing all eight instruments and singing.

How does a 9-year-old make a song?

Miles told PBS NewsHour that he often starts with no plan at all: “At first, I might just want to make music, not really have an idea. And then, it’s like, oh, OK, this is cool.” He calls himself a perfectionist and replays a track many times before he calls it done. By his own count, about one song in ten becomes a “banger.”

His dad told PBS that music is how Miles expresses himself. His mom’s description: a regular kid with a “musical super power on the side.” As for what’s next, Miles says he wants to be a musician, producer and songwriter. He’s already all three.
