Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
Hi my name is Jaime Rivera. I am a singer/songwriter from the Bay Area. I started songwriting in May of 2023 just out of curiosity and a year later i’m releasing my debut single. I want people to know about me is I love music. I songwrite pretty much 24/7 genres ranging from hyperpop, folkpop, alternative rock, rnb, rap, i’m a package deal.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I’m very intentional with what I do. When releasing my years worth of music catalog I put that time and effort into album sequencing & the way everything marries eachother on a track. It’s almost like a story essentially based on a true story. I’m a very creative person so you can count on me to really give my all to the certain genre/era im in with my music.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
So I had been songwriting since May but I felt like genres were writing me. I felt like I was playing into this character. It took me going through a lot to have perspective and soul into my music. December 17th, 2023 I wrote a ballad for the first time. It had a solid melody and form.
I had never been able to break out of that middle school diary x teenage angst era of songwriting. For the first time I felt GOOD about music. It felt like it healed my soul. It was truly a form of therapy. I was able to see parts of myself I wasnt even aware of! Thats when I knew music was my life.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
Where do I even start. I’d say being real & authentic in my music. Along with writer’s block and all that, writing about things i’m still greiving was so hard. Tons of writing sessions were filled with tears and frustration. I’ve had days we’re i’ve written 3 songs in one day and weeks were I just cannot write.
Needless to say the end result when youve been able to make those thoughts and experiences flow and create that beautiful melody is truly rewarding.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
I’ve actually had a list for the longest time. The top 3 people i’d want to meet would have to be Lana Del Rey, Ethel Cain, and Gameboi. I know its a very different mix but I discovered all these artists at different points of my life and songwriting career.
Starting off with Lana she truly built the foundation of lyricism for me not to mention the beautiful theatrical production she has. Secondly, Ethel Cain because shes been able to show what total devastation feels like with the most beautiful and haunting vocals.
She produces and writes all her works and I’m so inspired by her. Lastly, Gameboi. When I first heard him, it was so different. When you listen to Gameboi it takes you into his world. The production is so well thought out and out of this world. Again he has that theatre inspiration which I LOVE.
Not to mention his album era’s are the reason i’m a sucker for them. Its so well done and tied together that also adds to it. I truly believe album covers, lyric videos, music videos being all cohesive with production takes it to a new dimension. So I truly owe Gameboi for my creativity. I’d love to meet these artists they are so talented.
