Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
My name is Bea. I am a tarot reader, witch and priestess of the Cabot Tradition of Witchcraft mentored and taught the craft by The Official Witch of Salem Laurie Cabot. I have been practicing and studying my craft for years now and have accumulated and integrated ancestral wisdom, traditional witchcraft and shamanism and incorporated them into my majick.
I have a website where I offer tarot reading services and majickal tools and charms for protection, self-love and other things. My end goal is to help as many people as possible and make as much of a loving and positive impact on my community in support of peace, self-actualisation, emotional support and environmental awareness.
When I’m not providing majickal services I am going to school at AAU for a interior architecture and design. It is my dream to rehabilitate and restore historical landmarks and homes or possibly design interiors for Halloween haunt events, themed stores or even rides for theme parks!
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I feel that my approach to tarot as a tool to navigate emotions and situations for the client to ruminate on might be a bit more a therapeutic angle. Majick of course is always present and helping but I feel the my delivery for interpretation is presented in a way for a general audience to resonate with in a more psychological stand point.
Think of a therapist with ink blots asking their client how certain aspects of their situation make them feel and using the ink blots for images. I use tarot the same way.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I had told my dad first. He’s my best friend and I was very close to my grandfather (his father) who had shared his majick wisdom and family stories with me when I was a child so I knew he would understand. The understanding of manipulating energy and protection from bad energies has always run in our family as well as having the “knowing”.
Since, I’ve had the wonderful experiences of making new friends, gaining more opportunities and just overall feeling really in my own sovereignty has been quite liberating and I want this for everyone else. That’s the end game, to help my community and as many people as I can embrace who they truly are despite the fear of acceptance or not! We are all beautiful human beings! It’s important we provide that validation and compassion for one another.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
Coming out of the broom closet wasn’t very easy to do in a predominately traditional Catholic Mexican American community. I was surprised by the amount of support I had when I finally decided to announce that I was a practicing witch.
The response was along the lines of “wow Betty, we kinda always knew” or “this path is perfect for you!” There was so much appreciation of my authenticity that I was blown away.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
That’s a hard one!
1) I would love to meet Christine McConnell. She’s been such an inspiration to me! Seeing her show the Curious Creations of Christine McConnell on Netflix was like seeing myself. I felt seen, represented and just really happy to see someone succeed at not only doing what I love but also being a bit of an outcast like myself! I am a bit of a Jack of all trades myself as I sew, DIY, and home design!
2) Bailey Sarian would be my next as again, I feel represented for being the girl who likes macabre things and really like to engage in the philosophy and psychology of the human condition. I am most inspired by her because of her ease into just being herself in front of a camera and being able to respond to and assess so many people in a very healthy way. She gets so many people commenting on her videos especially very negative ones and her grace and confidence on how she handles them is really something. I would like for her to show me how to be better at handling those that aim to tear you down.
3) Dee Wallace would be my third. She’s another hero of mine who has acted in so many horror films that I’ve always wanted to do as I also love to act! Not only do I love her for those roles she played, but she is also an intuitive with the goal of helping others on a more spiritual and healing way. She recently came out with her own books on spiritual growth and healing! I’d like to get her take on the subject and gain some of her insight and wisdom. We are always learning!
