Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
I’m an award-winning actress, born in Mexico, raised in Switzerland, and this Spring I get to celebrate two feature film premieres in Los Angeles: “City of Love” directed by Eric Boadella, and “Mind Over Max” directed by Harold Daniels III, are both premiering at the historic Laemmle NoHo 7, and I couldn’t be more excited!
I love the beauty of cinematography, and the stories you can tell of real human beings through acting. That’s why I created “LOVE/HATE”, a series entirely on social media, that tells the story of Cleo who is fed up with her life as a bartender in Los Angeles. “LOVE/HATE” is set to be released on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts later this Spring.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I grew up on the country side of Switzerland, which is incredibly beautiful, but there is not much to do. I feel like that really opened up my creativity, and made me think outside the box to come up with a lot of ideas for storytelling. That and my love for the human psychology make me want to be as truthful of an actor as I can be, because I imagine that whoever I’m portraying is watching my performance, and it’s my responsibility to tell their story right.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
There was a shift right before I played one of the most important characters in my life thus far as a domestic abuse victim, when I realized how important it is to tell these stories. I truly believe that storytelling in any form can change the world, and bring attention to those issues.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
No matter what challenges I had to face in my life, I think I was my biggest obstacle. For the longest time, I didn’t believe in myself, and I was incredibly insecure, but I didn’t show that side of me to the world. I’m working through these things through yoga, meditation and a lot of self-care, but I am a constant work in progress.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
I would absolutely love to meet Darren Aronofksy. He’s such an incredible filmmaker. I like his process and how he develops the characters with the actors. I would also love to meet Gina Rodriguez, because she’s such a force in the latin film industry. And I would love to meet Chloé Zhao. She’s an amazing director, and I would love to work with her some day.
