Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
Hi, my name is David Jofre. I’m a Chilean-American actor based in Seattle WA at the moment. I’ve been acting for over 20 years in commercial and narrative films.
I love acting because it allows me to create life and tell a story using my creativity and my body as a medium.
I want people to know that I put all my heart into every work I do and that I’m always learning and working in improving my craft as an actor.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I think professionalism, reliability, and a good attitude are the things that have given me the opportunity to be very busy in the film industry.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I was around 12 years old when I was watching TV with my uncle on a Saturday evening and I first saw the behind-the-scenes of a movie called Hard Target with Jean Claude Van Damme.
Seeing the process of making a movie fascinated me and I was glued to the TV. That was the moment when I knew I wanted to be part of that process as an actor. But, I kept it a secret until my early 20’s because I was from a small town in Chile and felt like I if told people I wanted to be a film actor they will think I was crazy.
But, in High School, I was always making short films and performing in theatre plays. I ended up going to Film Production school because I wasn’t sure that acting was a profitable career.
And, now I’m a full-time actor and I also own a boxing gym. I think that going to Film School has helped me to understand the business in front and behind the cameras.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
I moved to the USA 20 years ago and my biggest challenge has been the language and working with my accent.
I started taking accent reduction classes a few years ago and it’s been one of the best investments I have done in my career so far.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
I would love to meet with Daniel Day-Lewis, Sean Penn, and Joaquin Phoenix.
Not at the same time of course, LOL. That will be overwhelming!
