DeMarcus Bumpers is an Actor from Houston, TX. He currently resides in Los Angeles, Ca actively pursing acting full-time. Bumpers is a proud graduate of Prairie View A&M University. Before transitioning into Acting full-time professionally Mr. Bumpers worked in the oil and gas industry back in Texas clearing a six figure salary and was preparing to attend law school as he had plans to start private practice and continue in oil and gas industry as Legal Counsel.
DeMarcus Bumpers is Family to some very high profile prominent figures such as Grammy Award Winning International Songstress Beyonce Knowles-Carter (Cousin), Film Director Justin Simien “Dear White People”, Late Rapper Grammy Award Winning Rapper Nipsey Hussle (Cousin), NFL New York Giants Football Player Darius Slayton (Cousin), Film Director Justin Simien of Film Dear White People, and Family to Death Row Records Founders and Current Chief Operating Officer Michael “Harry-O” Harris and Lydia Harris. Mr. Bumpers have The Harris’s to thank for shaping his acting career as they were responsible for some very high profile careers such as Snoop Dogg, Denzel Washington, Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Vanessa L. What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
Mr. Bumpers has walked to into the industry juggling multiple hates acting, producing, voice acting, and more. In the past year Mr. Bumpers has been Cast in nearly two dozen film roles. Consistency is very important and remaining humble on the journey to stardom in Hollywood.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
Early this year Mr. Bumpers was on set filming a movie and was overwhelmed with emotion and began to cry improving a scene unscripted and the director was impressed and decided to keep the scene in the film. Mr. Bumpers had a long hard journey and to be standing in the spot doing what he loves warms his arm knowing that he is able to be that face, name and voice for the voiceless people that will never get the chance to tell their stories on screen. Mr. Bumpers is a natural born story tell and grew up as a child articulating stories well.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
The biggest challenge faced as an Actor is going to countless auditions and hearing that two letter word repeatedly “No” and developing thick skin to pick up the pieces and keep going despite failing. Something that is meant for you will happen in Gods time.
If everything were so simple then everyone would be doing it. The journey as an Actor as you are striving to reach the top the process is designed to separate the strong from the weak. Keep going on the journey do not quit, stay focused, consistent, and stay positive as there is no room for negative thoughts.
