The Feature Film “A Haunting in RavenWood” is written and directed by Portland Oregon director Calvin McCarthy. This feature film is about a newlywed couple who arrives at the house of the husband Eric Olsen late wife Carla (Airisa Durand), where the flowers have been maintained to the dead woman’s memory. Soon, eerie
events in the home lead the new wife, Mary (Chynna Rae Shurts) to believe she is losing her mind. In this 50s style modern-day gothic horror film. Jon Meggison will be making his first breakout on-screen debut appearance as the male lead playing the role of Eric Olsen. When asked about his experience was like making this film he quoted “It was everything thing that I Imagined; I’ve been on a lot of sets but nothing like this. It was cool I got to stay on set for the duration of the shoot which was 12 days. I’ve never worked with such a great cast and crew, they were very professional and made me very comfortable, everyone worked as a team and made sure everything went smooth it was a great experience. Staying on set also made it easier for me to stay in character the whole time as well which was great because it allowed me to really get into it”
How did you get the role for this movie?
It came by surprise, I was at home actually doing some self submissions and I got a message from the director Calvin who I’ve been on set with before but never actually met because of call times. He asked me if I would be interested in the Lead role for this horror movie and I gave him an automatic yes! Funny how the universe works out. PlusI had never done horror before. But that’s not the reason why I said yes; I took on this role because it was the biggest challenge I had ever taken on in my career, I knew it was going to push me to my limits and it did exactly that. All my previous roles and genres I’ve done is comedy & drama and I was playing the typical nice guy, boyfriend, best friend roles. Which when you look at me that’s what you see.
That role really expanded my creativity and allowed me to get out of my comfort zone and discover things about myself I never knew I was capable of. This allowed me to show the audience something different. Eric is a bad guy, he’s a sociopath, controlling, manipulative, and just really well put together which is why I believe Mary loves him. He’s just an old-school suave type. And from that, I knew this was the role for me.
A Haunting in Ravenwood also features the legendary celebrity actress Eileen Dietz who plays Dr. Abott. She is very well known for Exorcist, Halloween, general hospital, and more. Jason Reynolds as Dr. Alex Nichols, Tim Coyle as Gregory, and also the known Jackey Neyman Jones as Jenny.
The feature film is set to release in early 2022 on DVD in Walmart & VOD. This film was produced by 7th street productions and distributed by Breaking Glass Pictures.
