Meet Rachelle Henry: Actor, Director, Writer, And Producer

Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.

Hi! My name is Rachelle Henry and I’m an actor, director, writer, and producer who is passionate about storytelling.

I have always loved using the arts as a way to entertain, educate and inspire others, so becoming an actress and eventually a filmmaker fits me perfectly.

I have been very fortunate to have worked on over 70 projects along the West Coast and have been mentored by so many amazing filmmakers over the years.

What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?

A few things that I think might make me a little different are my background starting in indie film and learning about multiple different job positions on a film set such as AD, AC, VFX makeup, editing, directing, and more.

I also love cinema and conversing with filmmakers in-depth about how movies are made (I love a good conversation about Arri vs Red cinema cameras).

Another aspect about me is that I love studying business and marketing for the entertainment industry (my major is in Marketing).

Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?

I started performing/entertaining when I was little and that led to dance gymnastics and theater lessons but there were two experiences when I was 10 years old that really set me on the course to do what I love.

The first was being cast in the title role of Oliver! and working with a large orchestra, singing with wireless mics, and playing the role of a boy.

The second experience that really influenced me was when I had a background role in the Sue Corcoran film “All I Want is Christmas.” I sat right behind Elliott Gould and David DeLuise and watched as these professional filmmakers showed what a real film set was like.

Their examples instilled in me a strong desire and set the bar for both acting and directing.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?

COVID lockdown was both a challenge and a blessing.

While we all suffered through the changes in our lives and stepped through heartbreaking loss in some cases, it also presented opportunities that I might not have otherwise had.

I took the opportunity of being confined at home to launch a web-series talk show with two of my actor colleagues/friends while at the same time using lockdown to power through a large amount of my college degree.

I completed my Associate’s Degree in Digital Marketing with High Distinction in June 2021 and I’m set to graduate with my Bachelors in Digital Marketing in June 2022.

If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?

There are so many incredible people that I would like to meet but here’s my list for today and I’d like to add a 4th: Viola Davis, Ava DuVernay, Tom Hanks, and Benedict Cumberbatch
