Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
I’m a screenplay writer who enjoys writing quality content for audiences. My scope of works range from crime drama to horror to feel good stories. The type of stories that give you the feeling that the plot mattered. My goal is to take any subject matter regardless of topic and challenge the conscious or the normal. I’m certainly a writer who believes that the human condition is limitless. I believe strongly in acts of kindness towards others and many of my works are written that way.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I actually feel very blessed because this is my second career. Writing screenplays was a surprise to me. It was a second chance after retiring from the private sector a few years ago.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
The feeling is pretty special when you consider it was a surprise. When I realized this was my path is really special. Consider the fact, when I retired from the private sector a years ago writing wasn’t even a thought. The friendships I made after retirement brought me to this place. I’m forever grateful through friends and the social media.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
My biggest obstacle was in myself. The experience of being introduced into the performing arts was a little unnerving at first because it didn’t seem plausible. My thinking was, who would ever consider me as a writer at my age. I did have a vision and I’ve always been a creative soul. I just needed to apply a different skill set. I also needed to believe in myself because self doubt is everyone’s crutch. I’d been conditioned for years by the private sector that my personal goals weren’t achievable. However, since meeting some well meaning friends my doubts are no more.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
1. Steven Spielberg
2. Tyler Perry
3. Barry Manilow
Spielberg and Perry due to their success in the film industry as producers, directors and screenplay writers. They are a quantity of talent that can be measured by their results over the years.
Barry Manilow is a personal favorite of mine because I enjoy his music. Writing lyrics are a passion of mine. I’ve written a few lyrical songs and Manilow was the guy I used to look at. His career as a songwriter has inspired me throughout my life. Meeting him would make my bucket list.
