Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you as a Swedish actress.
I’m a Swedish actress and performer currently based in New York City. I graduated from Stella Adler Studio a few years back and since then I have worked as a freelancing artist in my hometown Stockholm and in New York City.
Before I found my way into acting I studied musical theatre in Sweden and I worked as a singer/performer at hotels in Turkey. I love the creating process and am passionate about telling stories, especially the ones which didn’t get the attention they deserve.
I competed in chess when I was 7 years old and in my teens, I was sure that I would become a professional tennis player but changed my mind when I realized I could work with art.
What qualities make you different as a Swedish actress and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I really enjoy being in a creative process and building the layers of a character. I like finding new depths in myself and I’m fascinated by characters that are very different from myself. I want to make a difference through art and use myself as a tool for that purpose.
I will always be passionate about playing dramatic roles but I also have a side to me that likes entertaining. After this previous year, I felt a strong need to laugh and if I can make people do that with me it makes me very happy.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I found my way to acting and creating characters through my passion for singing. Whenever I got to decide on a song to sing or work on in music class I always chose a musical theatre piece because then I could tell a story.
After graduating I went backpacking in Asia for 3 months with friends and on a beach somewhere there one day I remember making the decision to apply for a musical theatre program once I got home and so I did.
I didn’t really tell anyone until I got accepted into the school. Since that moment it has just been very clear to me that I need to create in one way or the other to enjoy my life.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
Moving abroad by myself was the biggest challenge in my life so far. I remember staying very busy during the first months and when I got through that time I started to feel very lost as I changed as a person in a way I didn’t expect.
Once I accepted that I realized that was exactly what I needed and it had made me a better and happier person.
