Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
Hey there! I am an actor/creative that loves to not only dive in to a character and really bring them to life, but I thoroughly enjoy all the creative and artistic aspects of the film making process.
My goal and dream is to create and be apart of truly beautiful and excellent films that inspire and really bring people into another world.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
One thing that I believe sets me apart from most is my perseverance and ability to think outside of myself. A lot of people in the industry are purely “me” motivated, operating from a self-first mindset-creating a lot of obstacles mentally and socially to where they take things personally that had nothing to do with them in the first place.
It’s an extremely easy mindset to fall in to, especially when almost everyone around you is like that. The key to succeeding in any field is good relationships – “It’s all about who you know” right?
So, trying to be your best, genuine self and actually caring about people-looking at their point of view or opening a door of opportunity for others – will help you go a lot further than just caring about yourself.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I realized I wanted to be an actor when I watched the Shirley Temple life story “Child Star” for the first time. I told my parents….and they were not super supportive at the time, but they let me audition for and participate in our small town school and church plays.
It wasn’t till I got on a national program that my parents started to see it was something they should be more supportive of, and they’ve been my biggest fans ever since!
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
Myself. Like I said in my earlier answer, the industry is really difficult to not be in your head about yourself. My biggest challenge, that I still have to keep in check even though I think I manage it pretty well now, is not being in my head.
The biggest “breakthrough” moment for me was when I realised “it’s not about you (me)”. Auditions aren’t just based off talent, it’s based off the filmmakers vision for the role, so you are not actually competing with everyone else – just yourself.
Even if you are the best, most award winning actor, if you don’t have the right “look” or say one word a specific way they will go with someone who is good but looks like what they have in their mind.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
Dang. There are so many amazing people out there.
Any of these people could really take my career to a more elevated level: Michael Fassbender, Stanley Tucci, and Renee Zellweger.
