Ti-Lar Bee, Singer-Songwriter, Is A Classically Trianed Opera Singer Who Is Making Moves In The RnB Scene
Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
Hey baebees! My name is Ti-Lar Bee singer/songwriter from upstate New York! That’s Rochester, New York by the way. I have been singing since I was a little girl and Of course no one took me seriously until I was about 7 years old.
I started singing in church, then I moved on to live bands and opening up for major artists. I put out my first project in 2014 called “fan the flames” it was great but I was 19 not knowing much about recording so it was a super raw sound.
But like all things, I got older and wiser and I released my first album in 2018 called “No Filter”. This album was produced by JK Productions and a few dope beats by Atrax Da Instrumentalist.
Let me tell you something, I spilled tea, coffee, and apple juice! I am currently working on a new project releasing this summer and I am also writing for other artists. Baebee, I am the woman to know because I am going to blow you heard! Shout out to my manager Grace Muwawa of House of Muwawa.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I am classically trained in opera and I’m probably the hoodest RnB singer you will ever meet! Don’t get me wrong I am a sweetheart and I have never been to jail!
Because just like my music I sweet talk myself out of anything! But in all seriousness, I think I am super unique just because I am true to myself and you never know what you might get with me musically. I accept all challenges and I never take a ‘No’ from anyone!
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I remember writing a song called “MySpace talk” when I was 12 years old. Yes! I said 12. I had this boyfriend in school named JP, long live my old friend! But, in school everyone liked him and he likes me back.
I just didn’t realize what a girlfriend meant at the time and he would only speak to me in school, on the phone, and on MySpace. I found out he had other girlfriends and I wrote this song about him. At that moment I knew I couldn’t truly express myself through a conversation.
I knew the things I rehearsed to say out loud would never see the light of day because I truly suck at arguing. This song I wrote, had power and it had everything I was feeling from verse one to verse two. I let my older cousins hear it and they went crazy!
Who knew that I could write down my feelings in song format. It blew my mind because the song was no longer for him it was for me and for anyone who felt the same. “Said that you got love for me now, said that you’re the one for me now, boy I can’t play these games with you now, cause you love me on MySpace but In my face ain’t no love at all”.
These days music is my conversation, it’s my argument, and it’s my release. I get to breathe and others breathe with me. I love it here! Music is my oxygen. And as for who I told, I sang it first to my best friend Shakila. Till this day she hears it first!
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge has to be the rejections I’ve received. I have become stronger from the “No” and the “you’re not what we are looking for” but in the moment those auditions for the voice, American idol, and everything else, left ya girl sad as ever.
I just had to realize who the heck I was. Today I know who I am, what I’m going to do, and how the world is going to love me and everything I have to say.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
I would totally want to work with Missy Elliot, Jhene Aiko, and of course Meagan Thee Stallion because bae is a true hot girl and unapologetic! Literally love these three women!
