Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you?
I am the Bunny Barbie and I am a social media personality, fashion designer & entrepreneur.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
This may sound weird, but I think coming from such a broken home and being so lost and alone to then becoming financially stable with an amazing husband before being in the public eye has given me a different perspective on things. I never felt the need to show off or buy designer items. I actually have never owned anything Gucci, Chanel, etc. So I think I value wealth more and what it takes to make and sustain it without the pressure of people judging me.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I don’t think I’ve ever had that moment. I constantly start new businesses and never look back so I’d say I get this feeling about once a month! I’m always trying to grow and do new exciting things.
You started an inclusive clothing line BUNZIE. What inspired you to get into fashion in this way?
I think inclusive is not the right word. We can always strive to be MORE inclusive; starting with 9 sizes was a huge risk, but something I am very passionate about. If you ask my husband he will say “I’ve never met someone who, every time they leave the house, constantly gets compliments on their outfit and strangers are magnetically attracted to her clothes”
I definitely wouldn’t have done it without a platform. I have no formal garment training (or really any schooling for that matter), but the traditional way of doing things is definitely changing. I definitely feel my best in statement outfits that I can confidently walk into a room and know I’m the only one wearing it, Beyond that, I grew up in a neglected household. I didn’t have clothes that fit me (I was too skinny) and I always had dirty clothes. Still, to this day there are probably five brands I can wear off the rack. 99% of brands only cater to “standard sizing” aka XS to XL. Adding 9 sizes for a small brand is a huge financial risk and investment, but it’s what I felt passionate about. I mean how inauthentic if I can’t even wear my own clothes! Making TikToks about tailoring all my clothes because nothing fits really grew my audience in the beginning. That with the fact I have a gift for finding and making unique items made me realize this is the path I should go down. Being able to make people confident on both sides of the size range (now I’ve seen a lot of companies following suit) is BUNZIES true core and I’m happy other brands are copying because we all deserve more options.
You’re launching your own charity BUNZIE CARES. What inspired this and who are you hoping to help?
I have always given back to my audience. Last holiday season, we donated to 50 families just from my platform for the holidays. I want to do this on a bigger scale. As you can imagine, most of my audience feels like I’m on FaceTime with them every day so I get told a lot of personal things that are going on in everyone’s lives. If I can help more people on any scale, that’s what I want to do.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
You know, recently I have been doing a lot of therapy and life coaching to heal my childhood traumas. It’s also been very hard because a lot of that surrounds my mother who currently has stage four cancer and is in the hospital. I tell my audience all the time it may look like I have everything figured out, but I genuinely don’t think anyone has everything figured out in life and we’re all just doing our best to get by.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career to the next level, who would those 3 people be?
I honestly think this question is hard because the Internet is so unforgiving. I’ve never had any idols or people that are in the same field as me because I feel like I constantly set new standards and do unique things myself. But let’s just say Anna Wintour so she can invite me to the Met next year. *Laughs*
