Nova Wolf is the project of Miguel Gauthier, a Canadian singer, songwriter and producer who makes emotional electronic music that sits between indie electronic, melodic house and afro and world influences. He writes, produces and mixes everything himself, from the first idea to the final master. His new single, “Set Me Free,” comes out October 23, 2026. It is a song that, his team says, came to him late one night in Mexico City.

Who is Nova Wolf?
Nova Wolf is a newer name, but Gauthier is not new to the studio. His bio says he spent years behind the scenes as a producer and engineer before launching Nova Wolf. It credits him on Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light by Woods of Ypres, which won Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year at the Juno Awards. His bio also says he composed music for TV, film and game projects including Dexter, Silent Hill and Dishonored while working under composer Dan Licht, and that he was lead sound engineer for producer Thom Russo.
That background explains the do-it-all approach. “Nova Wolf (Miguel Gauthier) is a Canadian artist who writes, produces and mixes all of his music himself,” says his manager, Angelika. His site puts his story in one line: a journey “shaped by a life of contrasts—loss and love, chaos and creativity, solitude and connection.”

What is “Set Me Free” about?
“Set Me Free” was born on the move. Gauthier travels constantly, and his team says the song came to him late one night in Mexico City. That is how most of his music gets made. His website describes him as “a true nomad,” writing and collaborating across continents, and his Instagram is a travel log of studios, sunsets and outdoor sets on the edge of the sea.
The single lands October 23 and follows a busy 2026. On Spotify he released “Lay It On The Line” with Late June in June, “Everything And Nothing” in July, “I Won’t Come Back From You” in August and “Waking Up The Dead” in September. His bio promises music that is “both intimate and made for the dancefloor,” and those four songs are the best preview of where “Set Me Free” is headed.
What are Nova Wolf’s Nomad Tapes?
The Nomad Tapes are his travel EP series. Each one is built from the sounds, cultures and voices of a place he has lived in or passed through. His discography lists Bali: Nomad Tapes and Africa: Nomad Tapes, both from 2025, along with the Relationships EP and the singles “Undone” and “Run Up This Hill.” His catalog also includes “Kukud’ekhaya Pt II,” a collaboration with JAGWOLF and the Thanda Choir.

Where is Nova Wolf from?
Nova Wolf is Canadian, but home is hard to pin down. He writes on the road, and his releases and posts trace a path through Mexico City, Bali and Africa. The movement shows up in the music, where electronic production meets live percussion, guest choirs and the voices of collaborators he meets along the way.
What’s next for Nova Wolf?
After “Set Me Free,” his manager says there is a lot of new music planned for 2027. The surest way to catch each release and any live dates is to join the mailing list, which he calls the Wolfpack, at novawolf.com.
