Who is Lana Roche?
Lana Roche started writing and playing music young, and she uses songwriting to work through things that are hard to say anywhere else. Her music sits in alternative and indie rock, moving between vulnerable, confessional lyrics and a darker, heavier edge. Before “Vulvic,” she released “Inner Craze” and “One Take Wonders,” and her catalog on Spotify includes songs like “Stealing Someone Else’s Hell” and “Eat Me.” According to her team, her work has had radio support from Breaking Sound Radio, Radio Città Fujiko and Radio Fil De L’Eau, plus write-ups and features from outlets including Fresh On The Net.

What is “Vulvic” about?
“Vulvic” started with a double betrayal. In her press materials, Lana explains that the song was born after she found out her partner had been unfaithful with her best friend. It began as a song of mourning and broken trust. As she kept working on it, it turned into something else.
“I originally wrote ‘Vulvic’ from a place of heartbreak, but the more I worked on it, the more I realised I wasn’t interested in staying in that place,” she says. She describes the song as celebrating the moment she broke free from depression, with anger becoming the push into the next stage of her life. Today, she says, she is happy in a new relationship and driven in her music career.
The single artwork carries the same tension: a dog smiling up at the camera, with a hand holding a gun above it. Lana says the dog stands for her blind loyalty, and the gun for the shock of being betrayed.

What does “Vulvic” sound like?
It is a three-minute alt-rock song driven by distorted guitars, explosive drums and emotionally charged vocals, and it carries an explicit tag for good reason. Lana wrote it in 2025 in what she calls a heavily 90s-inspired, poster-covered bedroom in London, and the production takes its cues from Nirvana, Hole and Mercury. She recorded it in Liverpool with Lucy McQuillan, who played drums, recorded and mixed the track, and co-produced it with Lana. Conah Tucker mastered it.
Lana has said the song’s build mirrors where she was emotionally: hurt first, then confrontation, then something closer to peace. In a post on release day she wrote that although the song started out being about betrayal and heartbreak, it ended up being “a beautiful gateway” into something new.
What happens in the “Vulvic” music video?
The video, released September 23, plays out the story with a cast standing in for the people in it, including a best friend and a girlfriend, plus a full band. Tom Sekulic directed and shot it from a story he wrote with Lana, Irene Georgakopoulos edited it, and Lana co-choreographed it with Rayane Alexander. On Instagram, Lana thanked the crew for making it “out of love.”
