Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
Hi, I’m Shanice Renee’. I’m a mother, model, actress, and business owner. I was introduced to modeling in high school, a company was interested in me becoming a lip model for their cosmetic line. It was a great opportunity but due to certain situations, I wasn’t able to do it. That didn’t stop me from wanting to pursue modeling, my mom was always very supportive of everything me and my siblings did or were interested in. So she always pushed us to keep going no matter what life hits us with.
I do modeling because it’s my passion and truly my happy place. The joy I get from doing fashion shows and photoshoots is an amazing feeling. I wouldn’t trade what I’m doing for anything.
I recently just entered the acting world this year and I love it. I’m tapping into a whole new creative side of myself. I’ve done a commercial and a short film, I was nervous but excited to see myself in action when it was released.
I’m also the owner of Boutique Simone’, it’s a clothing store for little girls. My daughter was the inspiration for this, she loves fashion. I also wanted to gift her with something that she can one day take over and have as her own business.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
The quality that makes me different and unique is how versatile I am. I’m able to do many things, I have a bold edgy look. But I can switch that up to a more sophisticated and classy look.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
The moment I realized I wanted to model, was the moment I felt all tingly inside when I did my first modeling audition. The rush was one like never before. My mom was the first person I told, it was also a passion of hers. And now I love seeing how happy she gets seeing me living my dreams. It’s like that she’s also living hers through me as well. It has been a great journey, I see the growth and how much I’ve learned more and more.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge I had to face was learning how to balance everything out. Being a college student, a mother, working and then adding modeling and a business. It definitely was a huge challenge. But I figured it out and my mom helped me in many ways to make sure I kept my faith and never gave up. I had days, I felt like I couldn’t do it, but I prayed and got stronger. I learned that God never gives you more than you can handle. Once I balanced it out, everything just naturally worked out.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
My top 3 people I’d want to meet are Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, and Rihanna.
