Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
My name is Ania Thomas.
I am a guitarist, songwriter, producer, composer, and collaborator. I want people to know that I do a variety of things within the music that include writing songs, playing guitar, performing, working in the studio, and executing music projects.
Music is my lifestyle.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I believe what makes me different is my creativity.
My expertise in music along with my rare musical taste sets me apart from everyone around me.
Additionally, my problem-solving abilities help me constantly solve problems on the spot by making me an incredibly easy-going person who naturally tries to self-improve everything around me.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
After my first semester of Architecture freshman year of college, I realized I was studying the wrong thing.
I reached out to my college professor Tim Kobza, whom I studied with, and told him I needed to pursue music full-time.
That moment my life changed forever since I ended auditioning to become a music major next week.
I ended fulfilling my life with my passion for music. That moment I never worked another day in my life.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
One of the biggest challenges during my career has been navigating relationships; this is because all people have different expectations, desires, and wants.
Some people want to help, some people want to use you, some people want to be abused, while others want to stop you because they are threatened.
Another challenge is building your own team and surrounding yourself with the right people.
You are your team and you’re as strong as your weakest team member.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
Trent Raznor because I admire his work greatly. I always aspire to be as successful as him and do a variety of different projects the way he has done in the past. I believe I can improve my skill set by working with him.
Beno Beneviste because Beno is one of the most respected managers in the industry.
He works at Velvet Hammer Management and has worked with some of the greatest rock bands in history including Korn, Code Orange, Deftones, System of a Down, Alice in Chains, The Smashing Pumpkins, and many more. He also works with some of the best music producers such as Joe Baressi of Tool.
Tom Coulson-Smith, The A&R of Concord.
It’s a dream to work with Tom Coulson-Smith of Concord Publishing since he works with the best writers, producers, and artists in the industry. I believe this could open up lots of great doors and opportunities for me to create the best music in the world.
