Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
Hello, my name is GG Townson! I am an actress, all-around entertainer, professional taco-eater, magical being, and an awesome introverted extrovert.
I do what I do because it feeds my soul; entertainment is my passion and I love being able to tell stories and pull out emotions from individuals watching my work. The thing I want people to know about me is I’m still figuring out this thing called “life” like most of us.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I think what makes me different and unique in this industry is just simply being myself. That is my superpower. No one is me and the only person that can outdo me being me is myself.

Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
I honestly didn’t have that “aha” moment because I started so young, but conversations over the years with my mother definitely helped me narrow in on wanting to entertain full time.
Because I feel like there’s still SO much work that needs to be done, I don’t feel like I’m “there” yet.
I say that because the grand scale on which I’m working to achieve in “doing what I do” is still a work in progress, but I am grateful for all of my accomplishments now that serve as building blocks to get there.
Your grandfather, Ronald Townson, was a member of The 5th Dimension. How did his career in entertainment influence your own path?
I wasn’t born yet when he was in his prime. Because of this, I can only go off of stories or my interpretation—in theory—as far as his day-to-day grind in the entertainment industry.
His “industry” and my “industry” are completely different so I would say—still, in theory—the “influence” is just me wanting to make good choices within the industry that would make him proud.
Tell us about your character Jameson in BET+’s Sacrifice.
Ms. Jameson is a cold piece of work. She’s all about her business and a talented individual, but will stop at nothing to get what she wants to be accomplished and isn’t afraid of anyone standing in her way.
What is it that has drawn you to the characters you’ve played, such as playing the iconic Salt from Salt-N-Pepa?
I was drawn to playing Cheryl because of her story beyond just the one that the public knew: her inner struggles with her faith against the career she loved and even the dynamics of relationships with loved ones.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge I had to overcome was to own who I was as an actor and individual in the entertainment industry. Owning that I was enough and that what is for me will always be for me.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
Wow, that’s a really tough question. It’s not something I can honestly answer, I’m not sure who could take my career to the next level.
What I can say: the most that I can do is always stay ready for whatever opportunity comes my way, stay in class, and constantly work on my craft.
Be it meeting a director, producer, or casting agent, if I’m not prepared and haven’t been putting in the work needed behind the scenes, it doesn’t matter who I meet.
