Followers get you noticed. Press gets you taken seriously by brands, investors, retailers and platforms. If you’re a creator launching a product, a brand or a bigger career, real coverage is one of the best investments you can make. This is our guide to why creators need press, where to pitch, and how to land coverage that’s actually about you.

The short version: pitch your business, not your follower count. Get quoted through expert-source platforms (Qwoted, Featured, SourceBottle), pitch creator-economy and industry outlets, and land a full feature in an editorial magazine like The LA Note. Then put “As featured in” on your media kit.

At a glance

  • Why press matters: higher brand-deal rates, a stronger media kit, retail and investor credibility, and platform verification.
  • Get quoted: Qwoted, Featured and SourceBottle connect experts with journalists on deadline.
  • Creator-economy outlets: Tubefilter, Passionfruit, The Publish Press.
  • Brand and product launches: Glossy (beauty and fashion), Modern Retail (consumer brands).
  • Full features: The LA Note covers creators building careers in music, comedy, acting and entertainment.

1. Why creators need real press

  • Brand deals: an “As featured in” line on your media kit tells brands someone else vetted you, and supports higher rates.
  • Verification: Instagram’s verification request asks for news coverage, and Instagram says it doesn’t count paid or promotional content. Editorial coverage is what counts.
  • Launches: a product, app or merch line gets taken seriously by retailers and investors when the press has covered it.
  • Search: articles about you rank on Google and get read by AI assistants. Your own posts usually don’t.

2. Expert-source platforms — get quoted

Journalists post requests for sources every day. Answer quickly and specifically, and you get quoted as the expert in your niche.

  • Qwoted — connects journalists with expert sources; strong for business, marketing and lifestyle stories.
  • Featured — answer expert questions that get published in partner outlets.
  • SourceBottle — free call-outs from journalists and bloggers looking for sources.

Quotes are great for credibility, but they’re mentions. For a story that’s about you, you need a feature.

3. Outlets that cover creators

The LA Note

Creator-economy and industry outlets

  • Tubefilter — news on the online video and creator industry.
  • Passionfruit — creator-economy news, tips and a newsletter read across the industry.
  • The Publish Press — a daily creator-economy newsletter covering creators, platforms and deals.
  • Glossy — beauty, fashion and luxury business news. The place for a creator-led beauty or fashion launch.
  • Modern Retail — consumer brands and retail. Pitch creator-founded product brands with real sales.

4. How to pitch so you actually get featured

  • Pitch the business. “I launched a product that sold out in 48 hours” beats “I have 400K followers.”
  • Bring numbers that matter: sales, audience demographics, retention, partnerships.
  • Have a news hook: a launch, a milestone, a new show, a tour.
  • Look professional off-platform: high-resolution photos, a short bio, and a one-page media kit.
  • Keep it under 150 words with one link that works on mobile.

Planning a bigger push? A full campaign (several outlets, timed to your release) is a different job than one feature. Speak to a PR agent.

Frequently asked questions

How do influencers get featured in the press?

Pitch a story about your business or career, not your follower count. Get quoted through expert-source platforms like Qwoted, Featured and SourceBottle, and pitch full features to editorial outlets like The LA Note and creator-economy publications like Tubefilter and Passionfruit.

Does press help you get verified on Instagram?

Instagram’s verification request asks for news coverage and says it does not count paid or promotional content. Editorial articles about you are what count. Verification is never guaranteed.

Does press raise brand deal rates?

It helps. An “As featured in” line on your media kit tells brands an outside editor vetted you, which supports higher rates alongside your audience data.
