Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
Hello guys my name is Jon Meggison. I am a Seattle WA based Actor for Tv and Film, I started a career in acting in January of 2020 right when covid starting spreading and despite the pandemic, I ended booking my first role in a feature film called “Operation Y2K” as the role of Travis in March 2020. I ended my first year gathering 7 IMDB credits and was able to self-book in 9 films and 3 commercials in 2020. I had ended up also signing a local agency Seattle talent who then also signed me over to IMD Inc located in Medford, OR.
Fast forward to today and I have now been a part of total 18 films 6 commercials & have been blessed to be apart of some great films and features. In the latest news, I played a lead in a film that has won “Best drama award” in the Paris film festival. The film is called “It Takes Talent”. I played the lead of Marcus, you can stream it on my website.
I also recently got to be in a film with Eric Roberts. It is called survivors choice and comes out sometime in 2022. And as of right now I have just booked a lead in my first movie which is a horror film called “The Haunting in Ravenwood” where I’ll be taking on the lead as Eric Olsen. I’ll be working with some known C-list celebrity actors as well! The names will be released soon.
I became an actor because it makes me feel good. I love to tell stories and inspire people through the work that I do. I want to show people no matter the situation you can do anything you want to do. When I started during the pandemic I had no sense of direction of what to do or even how to get started. All I know Is I had to figure out how to get my foot in the door: so I started learning the industry.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
The qualities I say that make me different is I’ve stirred away from being “typecast” I didn’t want to be labeled as one so I’ve worked on versatility in my craft and so far have worked on comedy, drama, thriller, and coming up now is Horror.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
The moment I realized I wanted to do this for the rest of my life was when I stepped foot on a set for the first time. The way it made me feel and how comfortable I felt. We were filming operation Y2K and it just gave me a feeling that is truly indescribable. And since then I fell in love with the art. Being on set brought life into my soul.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge I had to face I would say was when I first started and Covid was first spreading we were in a shutdown. I had to figure out a way to get experience, find work. And for someone who is just starting out no resume, no reel, nothing to my name to show what I can do. So I started making YouTube videos of scenes from movies posting them on my Facebook, joining Facebook groups, etc just posting them hoping to catch someone’s eye. I didn’t look at covid as a bad thing for me it was a blessing. It allowed me to better my craft and get further while the industry was in a shutdown.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
