Meet Alysha Wright: Actress, Writer, and Producer

Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.

I’m Alysha Wright, an Actress, Writer, and Producer living in New York.

My most recent acting credits include my role as Detective Nola in the feature film CHAAW supporting Richard Lawson, Jimmy Walker, and the late great Biz Markie.

As a producer, I have been extremely proud of my latest feature film Inexistent alongside Beast Season Films. I also recently had the honor of starring in the comedic short Demon Time.

What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?

I make every role and project an opportunity to learn about myself and the world through the character’s experiences.

Even as a producer you have to want to take the emotional walk through the story in order to bring it to life.

Many turn towards film for the creative escape, I love the self-discovery through empathy.

Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?

I was in an acting class, yes I had already committed to class before committing to the craft!

It was an emotional scene and I went to that other world that gets created in the script.

I heard a few people sniffling from crying and I came back to the realization I was in class.

I felt all the overwhelming tension in the room like everyone was collectively holding their breath. The air was thick and still, that is when I knew I would do this forever.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?

My greatest challenge has surprisingly been scheduling. It’s the problem I have been begging for, for years and now honestly it gives me the most anxiety!

No one tells you that you dwell on the roles in conflict or the roles and projects you pass on just as much as the ones you get.

I passed on a project for a day because of a workable conflict… that project went on to be an Emmy nominated series.

Now I keep it simple. If I can make it and it’s good material, I’m there.  If I can’t, I make sure I maintain great relationships and communicate early.

If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?

This wish list of people I would like to meet is in constant rotation!

Right now I would have to say, Jerry Bruckheimer, Shonda Rhimes, and Meryl Streep. I would have hours of questions for each!
