This is Yiqing–award-winning actor, writer, and creative life coach. I help artists and entrepreneurs belong, become, and create the dream life they want.
Before I was able to live my dream life, I was a medical student in China, doing experiments on rats. I was supposed to make them depressed but ended up making myself depressed. That was my wake-up call for a soul-searching journey. I realized: Instead of treating people’s physical bodies, my passion lies in helping them with their minds and souls.
I found my calling and transformed my life, now I’m paying it forward and helping as many people as I can for the same cause.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
My most valuable qualities are my experiences as a trailblazer–being the first and only immigrant of my family, and successfully making a 180-degree switch in my career. I am led by love and driven by purpose.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
That was when I got depression from that depression study on rats! I told my parents first, but they were strongly against the idea of pursuing the arts. I went ahead despite their opposition. That was the first moment of taking responsibility for my life, and gosh how good that felt! I’ve been living with this good feeling ever since.
