Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
I’m Roman Cabaong. a European and Asian descent teen actor from San Diego, California.
My passion for the arts started when I was six years old in my very first play production of Bye Bye Birdie playing a Sweet Apple Townsperson with Center Stage Productions.
After many years on stage at the age of fifteen I ventured to Hollywood. I began to study at a young actor’s conservatory with Gary Spatz’s The Playground where I graduated after 2 years.
Now at the age of seventeen, I continue to follow my love and desire to perform on stage as well as TV and Film. I am best known for my role as Leon on Dhar Mann’s TV media and other on-set appearances.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I grew up being primarily homeschooled with so much free time to enjoy life, be a boy scout and travel. I really enjoyed being a boy scout and all the adventures I had with my brother and friends, camping and hiking.
My favorite camping trip was at Joshua Tree in the middle of a thunderstorm and Yosemite was pretty cool but challenging having to hike almost fifteen miles. I also enjoy sports and my other hobbies which include parkour and karate, which I love.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
Since a young age I’ve always been comfortable in front of the camera.
I remember making a silly video at the age of five playing a karate instructor and showing my moves. I also told my mom I wanted to act and be just like Michael Bay one day.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
So, during my time with the boy scouts I joined my older brother on a trip to Yosemite. He was preparing for his Eagle which is one of the highest honors as a scout. I decided to join the trip unaware of the treacherous fifteen mile hiking experience of my life.
You see, during that time I was not in physical shape to hike and climb mountains. During the hike the air was cold, I was hungry, exhausted and in physical pain. The last mile was the hardest using only a tiny flashlight to get thru the darkness of the night and the last one to reach the campsite.
This experience taught me about perseverance, determination and not giving up mentally and physically.
If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?
I would love to meet Dwayne Johnson. His drive and determination, his humble personality, and the power of his story inspires me to continue to be courageous and a better person everyday.
Next Terry Crews! His infectious smile and joy resonate with me and inspires me to have the same joy towards choosing roles as an actor and always having fun.
I would also love to meet and collaborate someday with director Sam Raimi. I enjoy watching his creativity on film and the stories he conveys.
