Singer-Songwriter Armoury Davis Pours Her Heart Out Into Her Craft

Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?

My name is ARMOURY. I’m a singer and songwriter based in Toronto, Canada. I come from a very musical family full of DJs, singers, and rappers. I began writing songs at 6 years old freestyling lyrics using the recording app on my dad’s old laptop. I once won a major songwriting competition looking for Toronto’s anthem taking home a grand prize of $10,000.

Another fact about me is that I have been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called myositis (a muscle condition) and connective tissue lung disease. Throughout this journey, I never let it stop me from doing what I love every day, making music!

I want to be a voice for anyone feeling unheard or going through something with lost hope. I want to inspire those who think that there’s no way out and show them you can always come out on the other side of your problems with real faith and hard work.

What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?

What makes me different from other singers in the music industry is that I have connective tissue lung disease which hinders my lung capacity and breathing abilities. At one point, my breathing was so bad that I wasn’t able to hold a note if my life depended on it.

I thought I would never sing again. So every time I touch the mic, I’m pouring my whole heart out like it’s the last time I’ll sing that song!

Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.

The moment I realized I was doing what I was born to do was during a performance of mine. I was singing a song I wrote backed by a wicked band of amazing musicians and a small intimate crowd that was locked into every word I was saying. There was a moment in the performance where I stepped out away from the mic to engage with the crowd, clapping my hands as they clapped with me.

I felt so in sync with the universe and it was a true moment of alignment. I got chills from head to toe. A feeling of unexplainable joy filled my heart and you could see it written all over my face that this is where I am supposed to be.

What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?

The biggest challenge I had to go through was being diagnosed with two autoimmune diseases. When this happened, my life was turned upside down. I was scared, afraid, and depressed for a long time knowing it could affect my music career and my life. I literally had to fight for my life every single day.

I’ve been through so many meds, surgeries, and moments of just wanting to give up. I chose not to give up on myself. Through my battles, I discovered my true inner strength. I felt like I was made of armor like I was bulletproof. That’s what my name ARMOURY really represents!

My goal is to represent anyone that’s going through any tough battle and show them that it doesn’t have to be over if you believe in yourself. Activate your internal armor and turn your pain into power.

Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?

SIA because she’s a monster at her pen game, Timbaland because he’s the dopest producer to walk planet earth, and last but never least, Beyonce because she’s an amazing performer and businesswoman!
