Singer/Songwriter Jayn Expresses Herself Through Different Genres Of Music

Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?

Hey there! I’m Jayn, a singer-songwriter, music producer, content creator, and digital artist! I produce original music, covers, and remixes to an audience of around 260k.

What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?

I write music based on my true personal experiences and every original song I’ve released has been self-produced, written, performed, mixed, mastered, and (lately) illustrated by myself. I pour EVERY BIT of my soul into my work right down to the editing.

Each original song comes with a personal diary entry featured on my website breaking down the meaning and real-life inspiration. Since I write based on my feelings (and feelings don’t all sound the same), I produce in multiple genres.

I want to be authentic with my work, hoping to continue building a home for creative, compassionate misfits who can empathize and find solace in our community.

Deeply influenced by the anime and gaming worlds that brought me so much comfort and much-needed escape in childhood, my music and illustrations have a colorful, quirky, cartoon-like flair despite often dark and harrowing themes.

Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.

Music has been a part of my life since I was a little girl, teaching myself on my great-grandmother’s piano. I was playing by ear by 6 years old, and never stopped creating – whether there was an audience or not.

I started a YouTube channel in 2009, releasing both covers and original music there despite proclamations from those around me that the internet wasn’t ‘real’ and what I was doing would never pay off.

I realized this was something I wanted to do forever when that channel started to blossom and grow despite those doubts, and I found SO much meaning in connecting with others who feel similarly and see the world the way I do.

What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?

I often struggle with self-esteem. Nothing I do feels good enough to me, and I’m a huge perfectionist; constantly comparing myself to others (because they’re AMAZING) and wishing I could improve faster. There’s always something I wish I could have done better when I release a song, and any time I revisit my work it’s with intense critique.

I’m not sure I’ve quite conquered this one.

I’m still terrified to share myself with the world and am extremely sensitive to rejection (especially given the vulnerable, honest nature of my songs) but ultimately I know in my heart this is what I’m meant to do and push through with sheer willpower despite any disappointment with myself.

I try to remember the ones who have stood by me all these years, cheering me on. Knowing my work is able to touch any of them is enough to keep moving forward and challenging myself. I want more than anything to make the diehards proud and to prove that it’s possible to make your dreams a reality.

Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?

A music manager, booking agent, and multi-genre producer would be amazing to connect with!
