Steven Sharp Believes That Diversity Is What Makes Him Succeed In The Industry

Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.

Hi, my is Steven Sharp or as many of you might know me as, smooth stevo. I’m a commercial/print model and influencer based out of central Florida.

On my social media, I inspire other creatives to be the best by showcasing my own journey as a model and actor. Week after week I learn more techniques that I practice to better myself with my craft.

This has helped me land really credible modeling jobs and connect with many important people in the industry.

What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?

My diversity has helped me out a ton when it comes to being successful in this industry. Maintaining a professional image and being open minded to new concepts has led me to bring a very unique vibe when I’m on sets.

I’m very committed to bringing out the vision of those I work for especially when it comes to the fashion side of the industry.

Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?

August 2020 was the month that I had decided to see if I had what it took to be a successful model so I began doing my own research learning the lingo, the major faces in the game, and most importantly, what I could do to stand out.

This was also around the same time a photo of mine was featured on H&M which brought a huge amount of attention to my page. A few months later in September I came across a video of Alton mason one of the top black male models in the world.

He immediately inspired me to further pursue a career in print and runway modeling.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?

Serving as an active duty military member in the Air Force has made landing jobs a lot harder especially with amount of commitment most jobs require.

I’ve missed out on plenty of opportunities that could have possibly been game changing, but instead of focusing on what I couldn’t do I decided to start focusing on what I could do.

This meant planning out and managing my time wisely outside of work so that I could attend bookings.

If you had to pick the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could take your career (or business) to the next level…who would those 3 people be?

The iconic, Alton mason,
Rob Wilson from fomo models who specifically talked about the lack of diversity in the model industry, and Dwayne Johnson who is considered the king in multiple industries.
