Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
My name is Joshua Takacs and I am a Singer & Actor, originally from Doncaster in England and now based in Malta.
I gained my Bachelors of Music at Birmingham Conservatoire after I became an International Vocalist for various cruise companies such as Silversea, P&O, Thomson, and Cruise & Maritime. During my time at sea, I performed my own Cabarets and in production shows.
Whilst in Malta, I started to do more acting work and I had the opportunity to film different Commercials and be part of International movies and series. My commercial work includes the drink driving campaign for the Maltese Government and advertisements for local companies and betting brands.
One of my biggest achievements was doubling for Kristoffer Polaha in the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion and having a speaking role in Italian Rom-Com – Sposa in Rosso.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I feel that I am very tenacious, which is what you need in this industry – with all the rejections we received as entertainers and all the ‘no communication’ that happens.
I also feel I have a unique and distinguished vocal quality in both my singing and acting.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
When I was a kid, I was a massive fan of Michael Jackson. I loved to watch his music videos and dance along. My Mum noticed how enthusiastic I was whilst trying to perform his moves and decided to take me to dance lessons.
A few years later, my parents decided to take me also for singing lessons to complement my dancing. I soon realized that I preferred singing to dancing and that’s where my singing journey started.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
During my studies at Birmingham Conservatoire, I was diagnosed with dyslexia. I, therefore, realized that I had to change the way I was learning things and embrace my slight disability.
I noticed that the best way for me to learn new songs was by continuously listening to them rather than just reading the music sheets. For scripts, I have to keep practicing the lines over and over with my parents and wife. I also watch videos of me practicing the script in order to remember my lines.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
Stephen Graham – He is one of the best British actors and he shares the same script learning problems as me. I think he is a great role model for actors with dyslexia and I could learn a lot from him.
Jodie Comer – She is my favorite actress since watching her outstanding performance in Killing Eve. I would love to learn her ‘accents’ technique as she is the best at switching from one accent to the other and making it sound seamless.
Ryan Reynolds – I would love to work with Ryan Reynolds as he seems to be great fun. I would probably have to do lots of re-takes as I would be giggling too much. On the set, you need actors and crews whom you can have a laugh with to keep you going during the long working hours.
