Please introduce yourself, what you do, why you do it, and what you want people to know about you.
My name is Alex Porter. And I’m an R&B singer and songwriter. And I’m just using the gifts the God gave me to try and put my family and my loved ones in a better position.
I want people to know first and foremost that R&B is not dead. And that it’s still real singers like myself out here singing and making songs that people can relate to and still love today.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
What makes me unique and different is my passion and raw talent that you can see and here in my song writing and music. According to my fans and supporters, I’m the full package.
But I also have a story and many things I went through to get to this point. Most of all I want people to know that despite the many obstacles and hurdles thrown your way, you can still make your dreams come true.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you wanted to do what you do now. Who did you tell first? What has it been like since that moment?
The moment I knew this is what I was suppose to do is when a lady years ago DM’d me and said that when she heard me sing, it prevented her from wanting to commit suicide.
She had loss her entire family due to a tragic car accident and she felt like she didn’t want to live anymore. Until she heard me sing. She said it felt like my voice healed her. That’s when I knew this is what I’m suppose to be doing.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to face and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge I would say I had to overcome is being homeless for 3 years sleeping in my car while still pursuing my dreams as an artist and singer.
