Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
I am a singer-songwriter, producer, and publisher living in Nashville. Since 2004, I have released 15 albums and 20 singles.
My music has received placements in dozens of hit TV shows (The Big Bang Theory, The Americans, Shameless, Big Sky, etc) and several movies (Step Up 3, Benji, The Marijuana Conspiracy, etc). My 15th album – Nick Evans Mowery “Like Docta Funk” will be released on 12-31-2021.
The single “Stars” was showcased on The Young & The Restless in November.
My band, The NEM Project performed in Vegas for many years. We performed at major venues (The Hard Rock, The House of Blues, BBkings, The Railhead at Boulder Station) and opened for numerous national touring acts.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
I write and produce all my music. I perform all guitars, vocals, bass, synth, piano on my albums.
I have had music published in several different genres including Rock, Blues, Americana, Bluegrass, Pop, Film Score, and Adult Contemp. I work with several publishers on a regular basis for TV/Film.
I have two placements already lined up for spring.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
In 2009, I had already released several albums. I decided to put a band together. I utilized social media to look for other players. Bass players, pianists, and drummers that were working with huge artists ended up being in my band.
My drummer played with many Vegas acts since the ’80s, the keyboard player was performing with Celine Dion, and the bass players were all on tour with big acts.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
The ability to produce decent-sounding recordings has flooded the music market. It has made it even harder for true musicians to stand out.
People that aren’t true musicians fake it and become fake influencers on social media, and they don’t have the necessary skills to perform. This hurts the art form.
Also, this has had a direct effect on publishers and record companies looking for the next fad, rather than developing artists like they used to.
Studios produce cookie-cutter recordings that leave the overall music (Billboard charts) stale and lacking true passion.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
Most of my musical favs have passed on.
I would have loved to meet Edward Van Halen or Prince. I would love to meet producer Rick Rubin and Bob Dylan.
